STRIPER GUIDED TRIP/MURRAY

Went with Rob Lee w/Hollow Creek G.S. out of Dreher Island on Saturday. That man knows his STUFF!!! Being a Santee fisherman, and not knowing Murray at ALL, I can't tell you guys where we were fishing.. But we ended the day with 21 keepers, 3 big cats and 1 trophy striper that went straight to the taxidermist!! While we were out there, they were filming a t.v. show with another service. The way I see it, they were filming the WRONG BOAT!!BTW.. We were useing BB's on the bottom. Thanks again Rob, and we'll see you next weekend..

Oh Man, that beats all. How bout some hints where, ha-ha. Actually there’s no secret spots. The stripers are there one day and gone the next. General locations help, such as towers, bomb Island, Dreher Island. My question is, what are BB’s ? I’ve never heard of fishing on the bottom for stripers. I usually use herring for stripers. I love to see them schooling. I figure you caught them in the morning. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to ride around with a pair of bino’s and look for guides, then get their spots. I’ve seen guides killing them and other people right next to them getting skunked. I’ve also seen them chumming, throwing dozens of herring out to exite the school under there boat. Thats a good trick which I cant afford. Sometimes beating on the bottom of the boat helps. Looks goofy, but it works. Having 8-10 bottom lines out helps improve the odds also. Yeah, the guides know thier stuff. What I’m saying is, it’s mostly skill and technique. Most of the guides will tell you where they catch the fish. Location is the last thing on the list. It is very frustrating being next to a guide and watch them catching fish and me nothing. Most of the time if I see them on the FF, I usually catch a few. I only want a few to eat anyway. I usually try to find the calm side of the lake, since I fish in a small boat. I’m glad you caught some fish, sounds like fun. I’m supposed to take my son monday evening on his request so hopefully we’ll find a few.

BB’s are blue back herring.

Oh, OK. that makes sense. Sometimes I buy them and dont use um up. I freeze them in zip lock bags. They make good cut bait later. I also caught some swimming around the towers last year. I hate lugging the ole tank around though. I like artificial baits mostly. Thanks for the BB info.
