I posted this in the Lake Murray forum, but it looks like this might be a more active forum. Does anyone know of a list of common striper spots for Lake Murray(that’s ONE P for all you part time comedians )? I’m trying to get in to fishing for them and we’re having a hard time finding them on the fish finder with any consistency. Now I’m not asking for anyone’s super secret special spots or anything just some common numbers to try and hone our skills a bit. I have one spot that we some good success (quantity wise at least no real big ones) in that I’d share via PM if someone is willing trade info that way. Any tips for finding them consistently would be appreciated. A Lowrance HDS 7 with hot maps chip setup is what we’re using. Any recommended settings and tips on the Lowrance would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
For now, fish the big pool between the dam and Spence in 60-90 feet of water. Set your down rods at 50-60 and chum and drum. Focus on humps and drops near the river channel.

We have our monthly meetings over at The Flight Deck in Lexington the second Tuesday of each month. You can learn a lot from the different folks there along with the programs. It’s more of a long term strategy as we fish year round club tournaments and the more you participate the more you can learn. When I first started striper fishing, I learned a ton from talking to different people at the weigh ins. A lot of times I would fish the day after the tournament in areas I had been given a good report on at the weigh in. It didn’t help me in that tournament or even the next month most of the time but it helped the following season. If you are looking to do this more than just in the summer, it’s the way to go. Fogman’s advice above is great for what’s going on right now. Hopefully we’ll see you soon!
Thanks Frogman and Gar-heart. Gonna pick at them this evening. Hopefully we can find a good spot.
You gonna talk or FISH!
