It’s good to be back out on the river and let me say I’ve already had some interesting encounters.
Was floating standing up on my yak and thought I saw some big carp… turned out to be some absolute pigs that cruised up near yak and looked me straight in the eye. Never had big fish like that approach me and then not dart away spooked. Stupid striper fever.
Next was the catfish incident. Hooked a small catfish in the rapids (weird) and then proceed to watch a absolute river hound come and swipe at it. 5 feet from the rocks I was on.
Absolute savages for the saluda sardines!!!
Anyways, shout out to the majestics for watching over my holes. Lots of smaller fish waiting to short strike your baits off the banks up the cold river and plenty of keepers cruising in the current where the warm one meets.

Beware the rapids… my buddy flipped his yak yesterday and lost a St. Croix with a Sedona to the undertow. The risk is very much worth the reward.
Looking forward to the fishing only getting better on the rivers and getting my fix on some sleigh rides.
