We have a club tournament Saturday. Might cut down on the reports. I have heard that it is muddy way down the lake. I Have not been for a couple weeks.

upper lake is still muddy. when we had that warm spell it pushed them back down lake a little but they are getting back into the upper lake. try around buffalo creek and rocky creek. i troll u-rigs until i find them and then either drop lines with live or troll live on boards if theyre moving. if the weather continues to go down hill i will be out there as well

FWIW, I would consider forget about fishing on your first trip(s) and just concentrate on breaking in the motors according to the manufacturer’s procedure and just getting time on the boat breaking it in and getting a feel for how it handles. Since you are itching to get offshore ASAP, I’d get as many running hours on the lake as you can to see if you run across any kinks that may need to be worked out before heading offshore.

Listen to Striperskiff. Breaking in your engines correctly is the most important thing you will do to insure the motors overall health this early in their life. Go to the lake and follow the manual to the letter. If you have an engine issue this summer and they look at the computer and see you didn’t break in the engines properly (or not at all) they have a legal leg to stand on by denying you full warranty coverage.

RDW’s got a point. Suck it up and follow the manufacturer’s recommended break in procedure. I just bought a boat this past December myself so I know how hard it is to focus on breaking in the motor properly when all you want to do is cover the boat in fish slime. Lol!!
I’m in my final 10 hour stage (actually a little less than that now) of the break in period and then it’s off for its 20 servicing. Do what you gotta do now so it doesn’t come back to haunt you later.
Speaking of my 20 servicing coming up, where in the Columbia/Lexington area would you guys recommend for Yamaha services? I would prefer the place be a certified Yamaha facility. I’ve heard good things about Mid-Carolina Marine and they are a 5 star certified Yamaha facility. This is my first boat and I want to make sure I’m not getting some shade tree job.

Yea I’ll be breaking it in. Looks like the biggest time is the 1-2 hour period. 3-10 hours are running boat but not full throttle for longer than 5 minutes from what I’m reading.

so if I’m @ the gap, to get to Crystal Lake I go over to the right side of dreher island either around or under the bridge and keep heading back up towards Chapin up lake to get to Crystal Lake right? I’m not familiar with what’s what called around Murray. I just know where I’ve fished in my times but never by name. Posted picture with blue dot for where I think it’s at.

The entire area to the right of Billy Dreher state park is all Crystal lake. Once you come off the mAin channel and go through the “little gap” with the island you are in Crystal. It is a bag area.
