striperitis

got a call from my mother-in-law last night, her brother was planning a lake marion striper run today… BUT the weather has killed it. Maybe tomorrow…

I was all set to call in to work… cough cough wheeze… sorry boss don’t feel to well…

Only problem is now… I’m useless here at work! I’m all keyed up to go fishin!

any marion reports… I’ll post how we did after the trip.

I fished 11/26 on the north side, mainly trolled. My 9y/o
reeled in two, both 25-26 inches. One on a shadrap off a point
in about 15 ft. The other on a 5 inch gizzard shad in about 8ft
tight to stucture. Very little bait up in the creeks. Water temp
was 58, I hope to get back up there Friday mid am.

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

thanks ruff
we’ll probably be around potato, tawcaw or goat. Mother-in-laws brother reported tons of schoolies.

Starr,
Did inlaws brother go today? I’m looking for a report
before I leave work tomorrow. I usually fish wyboo but if
theyre thicker in tawcaw thats ok too. I plan on fishing all
day friday and saturday afternoon. If you get up there, give
me a shout on 68.

Ruff, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, I did go weds… trolled most of the day… everything from live shiners to various plugs and rattletraps… not a single hit.
It was the first day of a cold front with a crystal blue sky… not an ideal striper day.

trolled from wyboo to redbank marked largest concentration of fish in wyboo
found a large cloud of bait of bait by the dam. again no takers.

oh well, bad day on the water is better than a good day at work.

Only saw about 8 boats on the water weds… What where you in ruff?
I was in the pontoon with the blue top we had 4 on board.

hope you did well this week.

unforunately that was probably my last trip for a while… fresh or salt. hopefully 2006 will be better!

Starr,
Just got back, I trolled form power lines to the dam.
The most bait, and only fish I graphed was in front of
Randolphs. But it was a two foot swell in the big water.
Kind of unnerving to see so many stumps come up and go down,
Last time I felt like that I was standing in a minefield.
I’m usually in a green 18ft jon boat with a white riptide
trolling motor on front end. I think I’ll try Taw Caw
tomorrow afternoon. I’ll let you know how I do.

Fished about 2 hours today. Hit a few spots between Taw Caw and Redbank. One 26" fish on a shiner. Fair number of birds and that immature bald eagle that thinks he’s a seagull. Fish seem to be scattered this year but running about 1/3 larger than usual so I’ll take it. The wyboo channell still seems to be the best area judging by the number of guide boats

Crossed lake Marion yesteday. About an acre of birds working in front of Big Water Campground on the North side
