Stripper fishing help

Fished a lot growing up for fresh and salt water but never really targeted strippers.

How can I fish for them without going to whole kicker motor, planer boards, and tons of other (expensive) stuff. Just looking to give a couple a sore lip…

$2 or $5 bills usually work best, $1 singles will catch the big ones but those aren’t always the best quality

Reelshock, where are you looking to fish for them?

Glad someone caught that…

Lower lake is easiest for me but willing to spread out.

I run a 19 ft sea-pro bay boat w/ 90 hp, typical inshore saltwater set ups, and rigging.

IMO, since you don’t have a trolling motor, I would probably consider coming up in the late spring and/or summer. At that time of year you can do well anchoring or drifting and fishing live bait on down rods. Anchoring and fishing cut bait works well then too. Also, there are more fish in the lower part of the lake at that time of year than there are now, so it’s a shorter trip as you can put in right off I26. Your inshore gear should be fine.

BTW, I’m assuming you are talking about Murray… Just got to thinking, since you are down near Chas, that by fishing the “lower lake” you may be referring to Moultrie? If so, I have no clue.
