Literally. Made a call to DC and told him to bring the whip stick and meet me at a walk in spot for the tide this afternoon. Waiting on the water to get right we watched tailers go nuts over some soft bottom we couldnt cross. Then when the water got up they kept quiet. After a while DC had to go and I decided to go to the very upper end just so I wouldnt have to quit fishing. Walked up and there were tails everywhere. Saw around 9 at one time. Picked out the biggest and laid the copperhead crab right on his nose. WHAM! I’m hooked up to my first tailing red and my only witness has just left. After a few minutes this SOB got into some thick grass and left me with just wounded ego. Took two more shots at fish and just flat out missed’em with the hook set. They were willing but I wasnt up to the game. Not wanting to mess the flat up too bad i left with my head down as low as it goes. Need someone to show me how to catch these critters when they’re tailing.
Don’t know that you did anything wrong, just the luck of the whippy stick. It looked ugly on the radar down there so I figured nobody would be out tonight.

We saw a bunch of fish on the flat we worked but they were not too happy and were not tailing. Only one was feeding and I got a few shos but the fish was in an area of heavy grass and I could not get it in front of them without the grass messing me up.
my buddy showed me how its done by hooking up on his first cast, a decent size red of bout 23 or 24 inces.
Willing to show spot to someone…sure ya’ll prolly know it but i’ve never ever ever seen another person out there…how do ya’ll do it with these tailers??? I’m starting to think its easier to land a blue eyed blonde with daddy’s credit card and no limit.
Headed out last night with toothless. Thought the rain would keep everyone on shore, but we were wrong. The first two areas we wanted to fish were occupied. Went to plan C and sat in a light drizzle while waiting for the tide to come in. The fish were not tailing hard, but I managed a small 20" red. I broke off a Beast of a fish the previous day. Gonna try it again this evening.
