We travel up and down the the South Edisto on a regular basis to reach several honey holes near Bennett’s Point, Otter Island and Rock Creek. Folks, we have a healthy population of sturgeons in the South Edisto and while I do not know anything about fishing for them, they will amuse you with their leaps out of the water. Last Sunday, I had one explode near my boat and I nearly dropped my cell phone in the drink as he startled me so badly. Today, with daughter and granddaughter on board, one nearly nearly jumped in our boat after bursting out of the water directly in front of us. We anchored in about 35 feet of water and watched these huge fish burst out the water for a good half hour. A large flotilla of boats coming from Beaufort must have really got their blood pumping as we couted six separate explosions as the boats passed by. You just got to love the Lowcountry.
