"submersible" trailer lights

I seem to have trouble finding a decent set that last more than 1 season without corroding. Do they make a completely sealed light assembly? Do any of you have any secrets for keeping them operational through-out the year? I’m considering buying one more new set, and coating all the wires/connections with liquid electrical tape.

What I did was use the adhesive butt connectors on all wire connections. After I did that, I filled the ends of the connectors with liquid electrical tape and put a heat shrink tube over that and sealed the ends with more liquid tape. Then I mounted the lights as high up on my trailor guide poles, as I could! Seems like overkill, but you do it right the first time and you don’t have to do it again every year. My lights are 4/5 ft out of the water when the trailor is submerged. They never are, in the water! A boat is enough work, to get ready and recover, without messing with lights at zero dark thirty!

I have guideposts with the Pipelights on them along with the LED lights that sit on top of the guideposts. Your lights will never get wet again, you improve visibility and with the lights on top, it makes backing and such at night a little easier.

that is brilliant! thank you!

x3 on pipe lights. I was having the same issues, until I switched to them.

Used PVC with a tee at the top, mount the lights to the tee. Also used an extension cord for wiring like some others have suggested and it seems to have some promise.

I ran outdoor ext cord from plug to each light, heat shrink up in pvc
never gets wet.

To me there is no such thing as submersible light for salt water:wink:
Agree on pipe lights! Just made up my own, posted pic

well, i tried ordering from pipe-lights.com, but they are apparently not open. the phone # on the website doesn’t ring, and when i tried entering my information and finalizing my order, it just loops me back through to the beginning. anybody know of any other companies similar to them?

What do you do about the marker lights?

West Marine in Gaslight Square on Rivers also has PipeLights. I’ll never go back to submersible trailer lights again.

For the marker lights try using LED and silicone the terminals!
