Opinion/experience, I feel its not as good as other braids I used, though more sensitive it seems like it gives me a lot of knots, and is weaker. I’ve been using it on a spinning reel so it may be better on bait casters. I usually use power pro but got the 832 and it was better than power pro so thought I would try it but doesn’t seem as good as the 832, same rod and reel for all braids and 10# test.
If it’s anything like suffix 832 I don’t want anything to do with it. That stuff wind knots like crazy. And yes I always manually close my bail and do everything else you’re supposed to do to prevent wind knots. I replaced all my spools of it last fall and went back to powerpro.
I tried it but wind knots were ridiculous and I felt it dug into itself too much.
I used to use Power Pro but have since changed to Sunline SX1. No issues with wind knots, incredible castability, and smaller diameter-to-pound test rating than anything I’ve ever used.

I use the power pro 10 + 15lbs
I have found when you start to get knots when the line normally starts to discolor
Take your line and reverse it on the reel - you will have brand new line again with the used line on the bottom

Switched from power pro to suffix 832 and couldn’t be happier

I’ve used various brands, but nothing lighter than 15 lb. which I have on some spinning gear I use with very light jigs. Used to use mono/copoly type line on this rig, but like the sensitivity of braid better, so switched. Only occasionally get wind knots.
On some other gear I have 20, 30, 40, 50 & 65 lb braids & have never had the problems you guys are mentioning. IMO, those lighter braids have these issues of wind knots & digging into the spool more than the heavier.
When I first went to braid, I had read about others having similar problems, but also read that spooling the braid onto a reel very tight limited such problems. So, I make sure the line is tight on the spool, spinning & baitcasting, and stay with the braid of at least 15lb, which is generally about the diameter of 4 lb mono anyway.
I’m primarily using the Sufix 832, but have some reels spooled with XP, and like both of them. I started with Power Pro, and may even still have reels spooled with it, but not my favorite braid. I didn’t have any of the problems that others said they had with PP, like it breaking for no apparent reason, but tried the 832 & liked it much better, so have been switching to all 832 as needed.
I had mentioned on another site a few years back I was using 65 lb braid for some bass fishing, and got blasted by a fellow who said I was crazy for using such heavy line in freshwater. Yep, I may be crazy, but fact is that 65 lb braid is only about the diameter of 17 lb mono. I use the heavy braids for fishing jigs or frogs in vegetation mostly. Of course I like having the extra strength, and braid saws thru grass & weeds better than mono lines.
I still use a mono type line, Yozuri Hybrid, as braid is not always the best choice for all the various situations I might encounter in fresh or salt. I don’t feel that straight fluoro lines are any advantage for me, particularly for the cost, so have stuck with the Yozuri.
Before giving up on braid, perhaps you guys having problems might try the 15 or 20 lb to see if you s
I’m a big braid fan and like the 832 to me its better than pp but the y6 stuff seems to dig in and overlap on the spool and pulls of a loop causing a tangle. I’ve use many different brands of braids for years and never had this happen. It also cuts itself easily when tying knots, I only use lower lb braids for the casting advantages and sensitivity.
I’ve used Power Pro for over 10 years and been so happy I’ve never considered anything else. I’m big into - “If it ain’t broke”…

I switched from PP when I started noticing strange break off’s. It was like #lb test wasn’t consistent throughout. For a while I thought I had a bad guide or something somewhere. Problem solved when I switched lines. Maybe I got a bad batch?

Or you may have got a nick when fishing that went unnoticed and caused a weak spot.
