First off I am new to the site and have enjoyed looking around and reading the posts. I am looking for advice or suggestions for my first time taking my boat out in the Charleston area fishing for reds, trout and flounder. I will be camping at James Island County Park and I am looking at spending 8 days the last week of April. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance and look forward to any and all replies.

You really need to repost with a little more info on boat size and its
abilities . You’re within easy reach of all the fish you noted,
Wappoo cut to north , Stono to west/south both great river fishing,
Wappoo to right will take you to Ashley and access to Harbor .
Again depends on your boat , harbor at times can be mean not to
mention freighter traffic wash !!!Keep posting and reading forums ,
lots of good people here and info given is mostly from experience …
welcome aboard and to site

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Thanks for the reply gail wins. The boat is a 16’ Center Console with 50hp Mercury. My thoughts were to fish the Stono, Wappoo Cut and maybe the Ashley. Thanks.

Get you a Top Spot fishing map of the area from a bait n tackle shop or online before you come down. If will give you a good idea of the area without having to decipher wtf someone was talking about when they try to lead you to a certain area. 2 hours before, 2 hours after the tide change is going to produce the most results. Long live the mud minnow!
Stono from solegre landing head toward Kiawah and fish inlet mouths for everything, troll green Creek and kings flat for trout go at low tide to learn the area and navigate cautiously, fish the channel for whiting and sharks.
Change of plans for our trip. James Island Park is full so we are now camping in Hollywood and will be looking to fish a little closer to that area. Any suggestions on the Wadmalaw River, the upper Stono or Bohicket Creek. Thanks.
If you’re in Hollywood you may want to try south in Edisto. Toogadoo landing and Dawhoo are well within reach. Huge shell bank on the right if you take North Edisto out.
