I got a seadog from iboats.com for around 20 bucks. It is the stainless with the black top. Read reviews on the full stainless one and everyone said it was too small. Good luck

The only thing I regreted about buying an edson was letting it go with the boat when I sold it.
Mine worked for a while, but no matter how tight I got the clamp the thing would spin around the wheel. Eventually wound up breaking the thing trying to tighten it down. Will probably get a new wheel with the knob welded to it.
quote:In a completly honest question, not trying to sound smart, what makes the edson knob so great? I looked them up and found nothing but great reviews, and read about them, but what makes them different from the 15 dollar one down at wally world?

They stay where you put them and don’t turn into a rusted, frozen up mess. Hated to spend that kind of money on a basic swivel but love it since I did.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Got an Edson as a gift for Xmas one year. Almost a year later and it still spins flawlessly. Would never own a boat without one.
i have the steering wheel with the knob built in. given to me by my friends at martin’s marine in prosperity. would not want anything better. my old wheel is in my shop if anybody needs a stainless one in perfect condition.
