Getting into the idea of king fishing this summer. Anyone know any good spots we can reach on yaks for this? I’d love to learn the ropes, once the water warms up, if it ever does.
I have no experience, but I’m interested in gaining some!
Can’t give any advice, but gonna give it a try this year…
I hope to get involved with trying this out. Think it would be a good time!

Some of the easier places to launch are on folly beach. I’ve put in by the pier a few times, at the county park before and at the other end close to the washout.
All I’ve ever caught are sharks and blues. Maybe will get a king one of these days.

I know out of Georgetown the tide line is within reach of a kayak north of the jetties down to north inlet. Should be very doable.
I’d be interested. What kind of kayak are you using. Everyone I have talked to said they hangout around reefs In the 20’-30’ range. But there are also some wrecks off of the inlets around Mt. Pleasant that may worth checking out that are only about a mile from shore.

Summertime kings will be in closer than that. I’ve seen some nice ones caught inside the jetties in Georgetown. They catch some good ones off the piers too.
The guys on the folly beach pier catch em all through the summer. Short paddle out, but you have to keep your distance from the pier. Manmade reefs around there keeps the kind around I guess. Be careful though, that type of fishing can be dangerous.
wont be back from my deployment till june and have been thinking about doing it if someone wants to get together and go
quote:I'd use the term "all summer" loosely. Last year the first one wasn't caught until very very late in summer. They used to catch them at the end of the jetties too, they just aren't here in numbers. That being said I'd still love to try for some off of folly or kiawah or Sullivan's. I think the kiawah seabrook area is underfished, plus there's not a pier for king fisherman. Beachwalker park and capt sams might be worth a shot
