Fished some cut bait from the bank. Got a short and a 24" keeper on the Lex side and then moved over to the Irmo side right before dark and picked up a cat.

Nice, I’ve fished there many times when shakey was broke down and never got anything but cats. What made you decide to fish the shore instead of the boat?
Laziness.
Actually, it was late in the afternoon before I had time to go. I only made it to LW a few minutes before they closed and didn’t have time to get the boat together. I’ve fished over there for years in April and have caught quite a few stripers. I think I get a bigger kick out of catching a keeper or 2 off the bank than 5 or 6 out of the boat anyway. I guess it’s just the novelty of being able to catch a keeper striper from the bank at Murray, since during most of the year it’s not possible.
