sun glass

What color lens are the best for fishing.
thanks

How many colors do they make them in? That’s how many answers your going to get! I just get the cheapest cause they will be lost soon anyway:smiley:

In my opinion, if you want to spend the money get the costa’s with the 580 lenses and you can’t go wrong. As to the color, Easy is right. I used to get the El Cheapo ones, but after burning my eyeballs surfing one time, I go with the nice ones now.

I think the consensus will be green for inshore and blue for offshore. Your choice on frames and lense material.

in other words amber or copper base for inshore and grey base for offshore. Its a great reason to have to have two pair:sunglasses:

My problem with sun glasses is, I wear prescription glasses and I’m not paying for custom ground. I wear the Cocoons that fit over my RX glasses. That way I don’t have to constantly change them to see the electronics. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/sunglasses/cocoons/_/N-1102491+1000003089/Ne-1000003089?WT.srch=1&WT.tsrc=PPC&rid=20&WT.mc_id=GOOGLE|gif_eyewear_Coon|USA&WT.z_mc_id1=43700004548632020&gclid=CPyO3svyib4CFUuXOgod8WsARA&gclsrc=aw.ds

Pick a color, any color:wink:

Costa’s are overpriced crap and yes I own a few pairs. I sent at least two pair back a year for a warranty issue and got new glasses then got a pair of Maui Jims, haven’t had one issue with them. My Rx changed on my regular glasses and they made me a pair of normal polarized glasses, can’t tell the difference between the lenses of the Costa’s, MJ’s and them. The Opthamologist’s Vision Center I go to said their isn’t a real big difference in the primary function and light control of most of the lenses, the majority of it is the name on the frame and a personal perception. But I’ll be glad to sell someone a pair of Costa Seven Mile Blue Mirror with 400 Lenses for $125.00 case and cables included.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Try a pair of Sunclouds with the mirrored lenses. Less than $50 with a lifetime warranty. I have 2 different pairs and love them. Costas are heavy, expensive and there are many brands out there as good if not better for less money. Just my .02.

Thanks for the info

I used to wear $12 walmart sunglasses until I had a bubble form on my eye. Doctor told me that I needed better eye protection. That was about 15 years ago. I switched over to Costas and the problem went away and never came back. When you look through cheap glasses, you may still squint. Put a pair of real glasses on your face and your eyes will feel more relaxed. I've sent a few pairs of costas back. 2 of those pairs were because my dog thought that they were a chew toy. Costa just charged me like $60 for a new frame if I recall. I've never had a problem with them and will continue to wear costas. I think I am up to my 5-6th pair now. I have lost a few of the blue lens ones, and now, own a few different styles. No complaints about them. My wife has a couple pair

I used to have the cocoons (still do) but check out the rx sunglasses at Costco. I got a nice pair for less than 60 bucks. I am due for another eye exam and I will probably get new glasses and 2x sunglasses there for <200 total.

They are not costas, but they work well.

The one thing that is nice about the cocoons is that if you get cloud cover you can just take them off, rather than swap for reg glasses…

The amber base lets more light in, and keeps the scene natural to me. The gray base lens make everything dark and dreary. Probably effective when you are offshore, and the water really glares on you.

I can stare at the sun with the gray base, but not the amber. However with each I never squint one bit. It just depends on your preference. The color of the mirror has nothing to do it with it. It’s just aesthetic.

Interesting. My experience with the two have been completely different. I have had a few pair of costas and still do.one is over 10 yrs old and with the poly lenses and they have been stepped on,sat on,dropped off my head on concrete probably 1000 times.hit every rung on a tree stand and much more and they barely have any scratches on them. the frames are dinged up a bit and the rubber is missing but i am getting new arms from costa at like 15 bucks a piece. The other costas are my fishing glasses green mirror lens and they have a floaty on them.i keep them in tip top shape and they look just like when i bought them 3 yrs ago. Had some raybans w poly lens and after 7 yrs the polarized coating started coming off and frames were wobbly. Had the 300 dollar maui titanium one
