2 for 3 on wahoo and 0 for 3 on sails.
Put baits in at about 200’ of water and immediately raised a sail that was more interested in the left teaser than any baits including naked ballyhoo pitched out on a spinning rod. Raised two more sails later on in the morning, but again no takers despite a fair amount time in the pattern. The last two sails were raised just inside the 226 Hole with just a few other boats working the area. Scattered flying fish but no concentrated bait found. Water temps running about 82.5F.
Ended the day with two nice wahoo (37lbs and 42lbs) both taken on a 9" orange/black Yo-Zuri hard bait right off the transom. A blue/white 9" was broken by another wahoo hit but did not hook up. I think I will send that one back for a replacement or refund to Yo-Zuri.
The 37lb wahoo was caught by by Elizabeth Caskey, age 13, from start to finish, with only the mate gaffing it at the boat. She pulled the rod from the holder after the strike and took over from there.
Nice day on the water for dragging bait but too choppy for any bottom fishing as the 3’ to 4’ seas were about every 3 to 4 secs.
Pics to follow.
