What a great day on the water. What a slow day on the fishing. We Left the dock at 5. We had a last minute cancellation due to stomach issues.I think he got the Saturday reports, but we were 5 strong.
Got the Roffs this time as I heard the fishing was tough. With this fancy report in hand I was sure to win the day (report was spot on BTW). Ocean ride out was surprisingly bumpy. Not bad but I was expecting a lake. We headed off to the 226 area and the plan was to stop short and see if they were shallow and if not head out and go to the north of the 226. We hit 150 and out goes the high speed spread. We trolled to 200 with no strikes. No big deal well get them this afternoon. Put out the plastics and trolled out. Found a weed line in 900 but got nothing off that. Found another one in 1100 to 1300 that must have ran from the 226 hole to the Georgetown hole. We spent most of our time there in a long line of boats I?m talking 526/26 interchange at 5 line of boats. And the Ocean had laid down.
I mean way down
Spread deployed…where the fish?
FLAT Ocean
Weeds, Weeds, and more Weeds. On a normal day the box would be stuffed.
More Trolling
More Trolling.
Put out the High Speed on the way back in and nada. We ended the fishing day with one black fin and 3 mahi. We stopped on the way in for some Grouper. No dice on them. Stopped in another spot for some vermillion trigger and c-Bass and got a few of each of them. Strange, as my grouper hole usually produces and it was dead.
Great pics. I would feel pretty bad if a CG plane went up because I didn’t have channel 16 on my scan. Did CG ever manage to raise Mad Dog on the radio???
We went out Tuesday, ended the day with 5 Mahi and 2 big cuda. Went straight out and found several weed patches in about 220 feet of water. No boats around, quickly put 3 in the box, I look up, and 3 other boats show up, and then a 4th, always happens. We continued fishing the area but only brought in one more. We packed up and ran farther out to hopefully find a weed line, but no luck. Trolled back in and boated our final one. The ocean was flat, so it was a good training day for my 11 year old son, and he was able to catch his first fin. He can’t wait to go back out, and neither can I.
