decided to tough it out yesterday and give the trolling another try,
headed out of the north Edisto to the Edisto banks area around 0430,
jumped the boat and barked the props twice on a couple of much larger than expected waves but ran out averaging 28-30.
Put out the spread over some good live bottom numbers in 130’ and caught a nice mid 20s bull and missed another , we were short handed due to a no show, hit another live bottom area and boxed a big king,
talked to some sportys out deep trolling a rip and decided to go join them- spent the next few hours trolling, rolling and missing fish.
Headed back to our first spot and boxed another nice bull, had a big hit on our planer rod and got cut off, we had 2 feet of cable in
front of the wahoo lure- I hated losing that one.
Called it a day around 2pm and rolled back in- it was rough but we averaged 25/26
Total for the day 2 bulls, 1 king and 6 or 7 knock downs that we probably would have caught under better conditions-
didn’t break the boat, crew or gear- bouy info showed 4x4s, 5x5, and some 6+ and windy- sometimes you just need to go fishing.
