Tumbled out if bed around 9:30, watched Gameday Final on the U, had brunch, and hit the water at 11:30. First stop was near Goat in the river channel close to the trees. Marked a few but nothing doing. Off to Suzie. There, I marked a good school on a 50 foot hump and got a 23 incher within a couple of minutes on the spoon. Lost a big one and caught fish of 21 and 22 inches on dowrods. The bite stopped and I was on the move. Ended up at Riprap Point and dropped down and got a 16 incher. Time to move again. Bomb Island on a 49 foot hump, I dropped down and got a 26 incher to finish the limit.
Now I’m sitting in the back yard with the grill going and tunes playing. Does that sound like a good Sunday to you guys?
Accidently caught 2 stripers about 1/4 mile above the gap during a green fish tournament Saturday morning. One was small and the other was around 22". Both were released to grow some more. I wish the bigger one had been a largemouth. There was no evidence of schooling in the area, but both hit topwater.
sure does Fogman…I was wackin weeds with the string trimmer Sunday…lol but I did enjoy the football game Sat. and some tailgating… I plan to go this coming weekend …
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
Thanks for the report Fogman. It would appear there aren’t too many bad places to fish. Like you stated before, it’s just a matter of finding the right school to find the bigger fish. Hopefully the action will stay this strong after “5 & done” expires next week.
Woody, I spent Saturday until 1/2 hour before Carolina kickoff scraping, sanding, and painting shutters until my hands cramped up. So it was nice to have a good outing on the water yesterday.
Jack, there is indeed no bad place to look right now. I have been skeptical about 5 and done but have learned to enjoy it by only using 1 downrod and jerkin spoons when alone. (In fact, I will be giving a spoon talk at the next MSC and may call on you to contribute a little if that’s ok.) I’VE only noticed a couple floaters all summer. That’s a good thing!
