Sunday fishing

I put the yak in at Pitt St bridge this morning just before 8 to catch the end of the incoming tide. Paddle up the creek to the left and meandered until I ran out of creek:sunglasses: and incoming tide.
I fished the dead slack and got tons of bites from bait stealers at all the small creek mouths. Drifted back down to the bridge draggin bait, casting at creek mouths, and working a small spook…Nothing
1 blowup on the spook, but that was it.

Paddled out past the bridge into the ICW to work some of the docks w/ dead shrimp…Nothing again.
Paddled across the ICW toward the marsh and found a large school of something suspended 7-8 feet deep in 15 feet of water. Dropped anchor, tossed dead shrimp under a cork and waited. I had 1 fish grab a shrimp and make a run for the harbor. Reeled in the slack and wated for the circle hook to dig in annnnnnd Nothing.

I learned a few things sitting in the ICW
1 Kayak must be invisible. Nearly got run down by a 22 foot bay boat doin about 40 in a no wake area. then again by a huge pontoon boat.
2. No wake must only be a suggestion
3. A big sportfisher throws about a 3 foot wake when it cruises by
4. Dolphins scare the CRAP outta me when they pop up 3 feet from the yak[:I]

Pulled anchor after a while, stowed the rods and paddled part of the harbor up close to land on the MtP side.

Didn’t catch anything ,but I had a blast.

Learned 1 more thing. Pitt St is an easy launch near high tide and a pain for take out when it’s low. I had to scramble up the mud bank carrying the yak. It makes me wish I’d built a lighter boat.

So much water, So little time

Good report Bro… I am kinda nervous about tomrrow but since it’ll be monday there shouldn’t be too much boat traffic… We gotta get together again soon Bro…

He took the jugbelly clouser like an anemic sea trout on crack…

Let me know when you’ve got a Sat or Sun off. My son and I have to work at a Boy Scout yard sale next Sat morning, but I can probably get out around 2

If you put in a Remley’s hug the shoreline til you get up to Hobcaw. It should keep you from getting run down.
Let me know how you do.
