Sunday G-Town Hole

Dropped lines at 7:30 looking for red meat. At 10:00 we hadn’t had a knockdown when we saw a half sheet of plywood floating about 2 miles south of the hole in 600 feet of water. First pass we went 7 for 7 on the dolphin. Reloaded and went by again puting 5 or 6 more in the boat. At that point we had the whole school behind the boat so we cut the motor and started pitching cut ballyhoo. Dolphin were pouring over the sides. We kept 23 and let some smaller fish go. We left them in a feeding frenzy to go search for tuna or wahoo but went 0 for 4 on the knockdowns the rest of the day.

There is nothing more fun than pitching a bait to a dolphin with spinning gear and watching them attack it!

Great day and thanks for the report!

sorry for the treehuggin attitude but I hope that all gets eaten…it’s often I go out and everybody wants to keep the fish and then you have trouble given it away at the dock…

Tree hugger!

You may rest easy. That fish will be eaten.

Question? How far out do you have to go to reach 600 feet?

I think my boat has a range of 100 miles and I always err on the side of safety so I am sure I cannot make it.

How far is the gulf stream from Charleston Harbor?

100 mile range ain’t gonna cut it. The stream ranges at different times of the year.

Just as well, this morning the 100 miles would be a $365 run. I could hook up with a group and hire a really big boat for that money.

Post in the fishing matchup section and someone will take you for your cost of the gas/ice/bait split. A lot of splits on the smaller boats are $100 or less.

…and if you’re “friends” with some people on this site they’ll take you for free.:imp:

You can’t buy class like that…not even with a paeso.

If anyone ever wants to give away fish, I know a few people who will take some…me being the primary one.
