Sunday July 2nd mixed bag of small fish

The crack of noon fishing team started the day at the jetties around 11am, just as the water started moving again for the incoming tide. Had several out of town family members with me. Caught 3 sharpnose sharks and an under slot redfish. Things slowed down so we decided to push out a couple of miles and troll back in on the incoming with some yozuri crystal minnows. Stayed on the ledge of the shipping channel hoping for a random king. Nothing. Ran through a little rainstorm between Morris and Sullivan’s and then fished the Harbor. Caught 6 BSBs. 5 were undersized, but one was 14.5 inches and he got an appointment with the filet knife. (By the way, his stomach was full of fiddler crabs.) Circle hooks did their job for all but one fish. A 12 inch BSB swallowed one deep. Gullet was pretty torn up from reeling him in. Felt awful tossing back a 12 inch fish that I knew would be dead soon. All fish were caught on cut mullet.
