Sunday Morning 6/29

Is anyone else going in the morning? I’ll be putting in at the dam at first light trying to find a few fish. If you’re out and have a radio I’ll be on 68. Would love to meet some of you guys.

See you guys out there. Probably putting in about 6 and starting out back in Jakes. Fish till about 9 or so.

I would also like to take a minute to give a special shout out to my new friend, Jose Cuervo…for without his help none of this would be possible.

Just got home from work. Coming hwy. 77 to I-26, Cayce police would not let us get on I-26 towards Greenville. We got off on 321 and went Old Dunbar Rd. Police had every access to I-26 west blocked. What’s up? We did see a sign about an accident that all lanes blocked.

I still don’t know, have you ever drove the wrong way on the interstate while pulling your boat? Well now I can say I have. They turned me around finally around 7:30 and I finally made it to the water a little after 8. The wreck was pretty close to 302, something about an overturned tanker.

We put in at the dam about 7:00, went over to the Lexington side between the swimming beach & Jakes. The motor wasn’t running quite right and I didn’t want to go any further west. We marked a few fish, but by the time the baits were down, the fish were gone. Drifted around for about 45 min. when striperskiff called saying he was marking a lot at the towers and people were catching some, so off we went. I caught one about 21" on a free line right after we got there. First fish in the Lund! Yahoo!. We started talking about leaving about 10:00, then the wife caught her first ever striper. It had to be at least 12" if not 14". She dropped it back in the lake before I could get a picture.(she blamed it on her nails) We gave up not too long after that.

Congratz on putting the first striper in your Lund Bob!

We only wound up with 3. Started off the morning looking around and just never saw any real concentrations of fish, so we resorted to heading over to the towers. I had my 16 yo nephew and his girlfriend out and really wanted to just put SOMETHING in the boat, since she had never caught one.

Lots of fish were there, but it was a really slow pick with a fish or 2 being caught every now and then. Got ours at 50-65 ft.

Not much to show for a good 5 hrs of fishing, but they had a ball catching the few we did get.

It was nice meeting you striperskiff. And good to see you again Bob. I wound up striking out, but hey, at least I wasn’t at work!

Myself and a friend left the house at 4 and were on the water by 6:15. The game plan was to hump jump in the ballentine area. On our first stop we put two fish in the boat within 10 min then everything died. It went from spaghetti on the screen to nothing like you cut off a light switch. We checked 4-5 humps over the next 2 hours, but it seemed the fish were really scattered. On our last hump we picked up a 26" fish, but didn’t have any other action. At 10:30 we made the move toward the dam and fished suspended fish at 40-60 over 120-160 ft. Between 11 and 12 we picked up 4 more fish from 23-27", lost 1 and missed 5 more. I’m planning to head back down thursday and will post my results.

I never associated you guys with your screen name on here when talking to you out there.

That’s a really nice set up on that jon boat.
