Sunday paddle to Ft. Sumter....

The fiance and I went out Sunday after church to paddle around and try our luck fishin. Put in at the park at the end of Ft. Johnson on JI. The paddle out was easy, tide and wind with us, the paddle back wasnt so much… Shot out around DNR and hit the beach that is attached to Ft. Sumter. Didnt end up fishin cause all the water within 100yrds of the beach was only about a foot deep and by the time tide went out we were high and dry. Ended up walkin out to Ft. Sumter and lookin around. Found and old medicine bottle from the 1920’s and some old peices of Indian pottery. Like I said the paddle back was hellatious!!! Thought I was gonna die paddlin into the wind and agianst tide. Took us an hour to get back. Oh well, beats the hell outa bein at work… Hopefully next time we’ll get to soak some bait.

Jordan and I fished the Stono and Coburg Creek yesterday and it was BRUTAL. Stono was foot high waves 2 feet apart with some bigger ones thrown in from time to time. I was tailed in against the grass and had quite a few break over the bow of the yak. Not all bad cause I hadn’t washed the funk off in a while.

We went down Coburg with a tailing wind and falling tide…that might not have been the best choice… no fish and a killer paddle back with the wind dead in our faces and current ripping through

There is nothing - absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Kenneth Grahame

Its amazing what we will all go through just to get out on the water isn’t it…
