Sunday Report

Fished E5 - COVERED up in fish AND bait anywhere from 45 to 60 feet deep. Put out DR and drift sock in a light East wind - fish did not bite. Reeled up to check a bait and was SLAMMED by a keeper.

Pulled in the drift sock to move quicker with trolling motor and bite was on. Three best were a 21" and a pair of 24" fish. Left 'em biting @7:20AM with my 5 and done. Except for one boat pulling down riggers, I had it to myself.

Thanks for the reports!

I live on Lake Greenwood, but my fiance lives near the dam at lake Murray… I have got pretty good at catching largemouth bass at lake Greenwood. I notice all the new rules in the DNR rule book… I know they changed a lot of the fishing rules I.E. size limits… (I think that’s a good idea) Spider fishing for the crappies were taken a toll on the crappies… It’s a 8" min. now and 14" on Largemouth. I notice in Lake Murray on stripers that there is no min. size limit from June to Sept. 31… Anyway, I have a 1860 Duracraft and I am wanting to start striper fishin at lake Murray… I just joined the forum a couple of weeks ago, so I am hoping to learn some of the tricks of the trade of striper fishing… Any tips will greatly appreciated…

ssggb22, if you are not aware of it, you can also look at the “striper fishing” forum under “charlestonfishing.com”. Most of what is posted there is from Lake Murray.

You are welcome to come join the Midlands Striper Club! We meet monthly at the Flight Deck restaurant in Lexington. It is a family club, so bring your fiance along for dinner and both of you stay for the meeting. Membership fee is reasonable, and you can get a club map with a grid overlay of Murray to show where places like “E2” and “E5” are.

Our club website has a good section on striper tips to help you get up to speed.

I appreciate the invitation dano. I already printed the application out today and plan on mailing it in this week… I been reading a lot of posts on the forums and I have already learned a lot about striper fishing. I been doing pretty good with the bass fishing on Greenwood and my fiance’s parents live on Lake Marion in Eutawville. Her dad has put me on some big cats and the striper there are finally coming back. He has taught me a lot also. We go to Beautfort sometimes and saltwater fish, we have caught some nice Reds around Johnson creek… Anyway, my fiance lives about a mile from the dam, so I figure with the gas prices out of sight; I could learn to catch some big fish (stripers)save some money and make new friends in the process… I’ll give you a call… Do you go fishing during the week or on the weekends? I’m Greg nice to meet you… My number will show up 864-542-6140…
