Caught good fish Sunday morning around Bomb Island on DR in 40 FOW. We did catch a couple under 21 but the rest were good fish. I did some chumming and that seemed to hold the fish there pretty good. All fish caught two cranks off the bottom. The best bite lasted for about 1 1/2 hours after daylight.

Thanks CF! I’m torn between planers and dr’s right now. I pulled planers last Sunday and caught my limit but most all the fish were caught around the same time, daybreak till around 8-9am. Tried dr’ing around late morning after finding fish in deeper water and didn’t even get a nibble. Has anyone had any luck at all catching fish in mid day?
The past two Sundays that I went out, the bite lasted till about 7:30-8:00am. With the best bite between 6:00 & 7:00. The last one I caught was around 8:10 and then nothing. Fished till 11:30 on both days. I was pulling planers in 20-30 FOW. I got a couple with the down rod I had off the transom. Between Pine & Goat Islands.

I would say planers are officially done as of this morning. All reports I got this morning there was no schooling (and none yesterday). All fish caught today from boats that had been pulling boards the last few days were caught on DR’s in about 40-50’ feet of water. I would say the downrod bite is officially on.
