I got out for a little while this afternoon. Managed 8 white perch and 1 striper @ 27" with the spoons. Fish were constantly on the move. Can’t wait for the water to get colder! Caught some fish as shallow as 19’.
I also managed to make some kind of rookie mistake that cost me another nice striper and one of my spoons. Line must have somehow wrapped around one of the guides. I was stripping the line off of the reel as fast as I could, but the fish was faster. End result, fish and brand new spoon gone. Oh well, I have a bunch more spoons in the shed and that fish will probably just shake out the spoon and grow bigger.
Glad you were able to get out and jerk a few. I hope the spoon you lost wasn’t the big magic spoon we can’t seem to find… We did alright Saturday in the tournament to finish 5th. There were 2 20+ pound fish and a 14 that came to the scales. Fishing is good.

Nope, I’m keeping the magic spoon in the shed for now until I can find more like it. Don’t want to lose the only one that I have. I did buy 8 more of the other big spoons and have caught perch, big largemouth and keeper stripers with some of them. I think they’ll keep working well until the water gets colder.
Cousin now has the Ipilot hooked up and is still catching keepers at his “secret spot”. The stripers must still be scattered all over!
Good thing I got on the lake while I could last weekend. All of this rain has turned my fishing spots into a muddy mess! Maybe we should just fire the weathermen and start over with some new ones who will give us a break from all of the rain!!
