Sunday report

I don’t usually post reports, as I mostly fish for perch and largemouth. But… the stripers were schooling near the elbow. I caught 1 largemouth and 4 stripers. All of the stripers were over 19" but only two were keepers. I didn’t have what I usually throw to schoolers in the boat, but I will if I get to go out any more this week. A swimming fluke was what they hit yesterday for me.

I fished John’s Cr. yesterday morning. I caught 4 shorts, with the smallest at 18", the rest being borderline keeper size. on my ruler, they measured just barely 21". I decided it was better to be safe & toss them back. I was going to give it up about noon & figured I pull boards over to Wesinger’s then head back to the ramp. When I got into the cut, Boom!, a fat 6 1/2 lbs. Then a double header with a 4 lb. & a short. I pulled in a total of 6 or 7 in the next 45 min. Then it stopped. If it wasn’t for the wind, I would have started at Wesinger.

I fished from about 5:30 till dark last evening. Little breeze when I first got on the water and then the wind died and the water was slick. I was starting to wonder if we would ever see a calm day again.

Got into some schooling fish on the lower lake and picked up a couple of real nice black bass and couple of keeper stripers. It was mostly bass I was seeing and they wouldn’t touch my slug-go. Didn’t have much tackle on the boat, but remembered I had some perch spoons under the deck. Wish I would have thought to try them earlier. Got the 2 on 2 casts and then they were gone.

Got the stripers on one of my top secret, soft plastic dyed, garlic scented slug-gos.

All caught in 10 fow or less.

Good reports guys! Fish are slammin’ all over the lake!.. Congratulations Spoon on your I-pilot for the “toon boat.” I got your voicemail but have just now settled down for the night. I’ve got my boat hooked up ready to go to Mark’s after work tomorrow. Apparently, the gear controlling right turns on the Minnkota is shot. You know how it sounded at the end of Saturday fishing. The grinding noise is even stronger.
