Sunday Troll/Bottom

Left Shem Creek as the fog started to break up and headed to some bottom #‘s near Edisto banks. We pulled up on weedline in 150’ and put a couple nice dolphin in the boat quickly. Eventually pushed out towards the ledge and picked up a slinger dolphin. Decided to bottom fish a 15’ ledge we marked a couple of years ago and caught some B-liners and red porgies but most on the small side. After fighting the current for an hour or so we started trolling in a little bit and caught another dolphin and four bonitas. Came across some more #'s and swithced back to bottom gear using jigs as well as bonita on bottom rigs. Caught a couple nice scamps, a king, big BSB, triggers, nice B-liners and of course a few sharks. Had a pretty cooler by the end of the day.

Best drop of the day. 15.0 lb scamp and a knot-head.

I’m glad I put the extra hook on the bottom.

I got tired of feeling a thump and reeling up a jig with teeth marks around the bottom. That extra hook has caught b-liners, kings, a dolphin and that grouper all on the last two trips.

Did you have the jigs baited?

Do you get hung up with the hooks on the bottom of the jig? If you dont then i am gonna try it this weekend.

No bait on the jigs. I havent had a problem with the hook hanging up on the line or the bottom.

Hung up in the bottom?
