there are two- one double masted one (just the masts stick out) and a blue and white one in the marsh near the entrance to “elliotts cut” - whatever thats called). the blue and white one still has the sail on the boom and it looks like a recent grounding, even tho its 1/2 awash - what happened?
The one with the 2 masts sticking out of the water has been that way for about 1 year I think. The one washed up on its side has been there like a week and a half or so. I was told the sunken one didn’t have lead ballast so it wasn’t worth salvaging. The other one looks to be in good shape. I assume it broke loose from mooring and one day someone will get it out of there.

A week after I took this picture of the double on Edisto Island, Penfisher posted a picture of it in one of her Charleston photo blogs. It was floating when she took her picture about a year ago. I guess Edisto is a little tougher on their abandoned boats than Charleston.

About a year ago some friends of my oldest daughter were out and about in their boat and decided to have a closer look at one of those “derelect boats” aground near the Ashley River bridges. Apparently someone took issue with this and the kids wound up getting arrested for trespassing. Be careful around those things, Big Brother is watching.
Haven’t they found Meth Labs, on those boats before?
