Ya’ll been to Sunrise Park? The wife and I took the dog out there the other day. A bit of a hike to put in with a yak, but gets you right into the harbor. It would be a pretty quick row on an incoming tide to James Island Creek, and also a quick row in an outgoing tide to Morris Island, or you could cut off into the Folly River and pull out at the landing their.
Anyway, cool place with a big pond and a great view, looked like a good place to fish even if you didn’t have a yak just from the rocks.
Found this guys link to the put ins he uses in this area. Some are good, some aren’t so good. But it’s worth checking out.

Sunrise Park is one of my favorite put-ins. The view itself is worth the effort.
I haven’t launched at Sunrise, but have hit several others.
Pitt St bridge, SI station 26, Breech Inlet, Copahee Sound, Daniel Island pier, Stono river at Edgewater Rd, Bowens Island
Easiest launch has to be Bowens follwed by Daniel Island or Copahee. Daniel Island has great fishing up in the creeks. The Wando can get real sporty if the wind kicks up.
Pitt St has a steep bank down to the water with miles of creeks, oyster bars, and easy access to teh harbor and ICW.
Stono the fishing is great, but there is a little scramble down to the water. Too much trouble for the rest of you, just leave that to Joardan, Andy and I.
So much water, So little time
Where is Sunrise Park? Ive been lookin at Google Earth for some more put-ins and there is a landing at the end of Wampler Drive off of Ft. Johnson Rd. on J-Island. Is that Sunrise Park? I was think of puttin in there this weekend and paddlin to N. Morris and campin and surf fishin. Is it safe to overnight park there?

That is a great place to put in. A great place to fish is the cove between the DNR building and morris island. Would be a easy paddle to morris to surf fish. When are you going.
Turn left onto Wildwood Road going east on Fort Johnson Rd. Then left on Wampler Drive which carries you to the park. The gate is locked from sunset to sunrise so I don’t know if overnight parking is ok. It’s a great paddle to Fort Sumter but the shoals on the point turned me back.
Fishless,
I might be goin Saturday morning around 11ish. Low tide is at noon so I’ll try to get some bait near DNR’s dock then head to the beach on N. Morris to fish the incomming.
PS: Anyone know if you can put a Yak in at DNR’s dock?

A couple of months ago, the DNR compound became a gated community. I haven’t checked lately to see if things have changed.
