Took a friend out with me today in hopes of another good day on the water and getting him on some nice redfish. He’s been fishing with me before a couple times earlier this year with kinda poor results. We were not going to be disappointed today!
We got going a little late today he picked me up right at sunrise and we were on the water about an hour later. Threw the net and filled the livewell with shrimp, mullet and some mud minnows and off we were. Seems like from the time we started fishing until the sunset we were catching fish all day long. I’m not sure of exact numbers of what each other caught but we caught a ton of fish. We tried to figure it out but neither one of us could remember everything. I can count the pics but we didn’t take pics of everthing we caught. We both had to have caught atleast 15 small trout each all right around 13". Between the two of us 6 or 7 small reds 12" to 15", 12 to 13 overslot reds 24" to 30", two in the slot 22", several ladyfish along with a single sheepshead. They seemed to eat everything we threw at them but prefered the live shrimp for sure. My buddy caught that sheepshead on a carolina rig with a live shrimp on a 5/0 circle hook impressive I thought it also happened to be his first ever sheep. We also ran out of the creeks and caught a few small sharks during the heat of the day just to get away from the small trout for a little while.
It was another great day on the water with a great friend!!
Were you bottom fishing with Crab? I’m new at saltwater fishing and I normally fish the creeks with a DOA shrimp. I’m wanting to try fishing the bottom and was looking for some tips.

Nowake…Lots of good tips and help on CF read the reports and try the search function. If you read my report we used all live bait shrimp, mullet, and minnows. If your bottom fishing the creeks try some live bait on a carolina rig fish small drains and creek mouths.
