Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Just need to borrow for a few days. Trying to convert some old family film before its too late, thanks

Do you mean projector? I have 2 old ones, got one to work months ago (new bulb and makeshift film drive wheel). Interested in your conversion method, I have 16 reels I want to convert to DVD.

Just what I’ve read online. I’m going to try one of those professional ones online and then compare it to what I can do at home with my HD camera. I don’t have many, but I figured I owe it to my family to see what’s on them if I can. Would you be interested in letting me borrow it? Otherwise, I guess ill just hit the antique stores and gamble on one working.

Just took mine to a place on Coleman and they converted them to DVD and made many copies for a very reasonable cost, took less that a week and had them in time for our get together for parent’s anniversary

You are welcome to borrow it. I live in Orangeburg, could meet you half way or something. If you can, wait a bit to see if anyone closer has one, if not, we can work something out. I also have viewing screen if needed.
Phone number PM’d.

I collect antique cameras, give me a call 343.4404. Welcome to borrow one of mine

jp,
would you mind giving some details about this? I’ve been wanting to do this as well but am worried if the original will be damaged during the conversion. We have some old, old 16 mm movies that I’d like to save.

It is a very small place with DVD in the name right at the sharp bend in Coleman after Shem Creek. It is almost next door to Half Moon Outfitters and almost across the street from the former Alex’s restaurant. I had a box of about two dozen tapes of varying lengths plus some audio tapes. The tapes averaged 50 years old and had spent a lot of time in the attic. The boxes and titles were almost illegible. They deciphered the titles, looked at them to get them in chronological order, and put titles at the beginning of each clip. They offered to put a sound track on it but I did not want one. It was about $100 and looked very professional. My grandmother was dying of cancer and watched it for the first time on her last afternoon, got to see her mother in a couple of the videos. She fell asleep while watching it and never woke up.

Thanks! and a very nice story!!

Thank you and I could not have given any more concerning my grandmother. I was so close to her but did not see it coming so fast. Guess my mom did and she actually rushed out to the west coast with the video to share with during her time off during the last watch. Had not seen it coming myself and, to a degree, felt like I killed her. But really think it resolved some of her final issues and allowed her to pass gently as she had always lived her life.

I cannot say the value of the service those people provided and the fortunate timing of their work. I cannot complain about a single cent of their fees, which were very reasonable and so timely for us.
