I’ve been wanting to explore the Upper Wando by putting my SUP in at Paradise Landing and doing some fishing from it. Any pointers for someone who has never been to that stretch of water? Incoming v. falling tide? Structures v.banks/creeks? All help appreciated!
Hey Cougar. Ive done it a few times, but have to admit that’s its pretty grudgingly that i SUP out of paradise landing- much prefer the kayak. My better SUP trips have involved sight-fishing the grass around high tide. I prefer to go out an hour or two before high and head up the wando so that you’re moving with the tide. This direction also gives you more options when it comes to avoiding boat traffic- less boats in general, and plenty of places to go where a boat can’t reach. Hope this helps. Good luck.
