New to the forum. Gonna be visiting the area this coming weekend. Any suggestions for surf fishing Isle of Palms or Sullivans Island? Any inlets, creeks, etc. accessible to public? Any advice appreciated. Also advice on tackle, bait, etc.

Not much of a surf fisherman, but I have fished Breach’s Inlet and the riprap vanes on the harbor end of Sullivan’s. The current rips thru Breach’s so it is not that great. Last weekend I spent quite a few hours watching the surf fishermen from a porch at the outer banks of NC. A few guys were using the old timey flounder rigs with cut bait. However, the majority were casting gulp minnows on jig heads right into the breaking waves. Most guys caught a few small trout. However, one guy had devised sort of like a drop shot rig with a bank sinker on the bottom and a jig and gulp minnow about 24" up the line. He caught several fat redfish while guys next to him caught nothing. Some of the experienced surf fisherman could help more, but this is my two cents worth.
