I want a surf rod for my senator( yes you can chuck big baits on senators) preferably 10ft.+. What are some good recommendations? I can currently chuck it 20 yards on a 6ft. rod but thats just not enough. I want something that can stand up to a good 6ft blacktip, big reds, tarpon, and preferably braid worthy. All help will be appreciated, thanks!

Thank’s Nasty Dawg, that’s the one I will buy out of the ones Iv’e seen. It is just what I was looking for, do you think the graphite reels seat will be fine with a reel as big and heavy as the senator though?

Yes the reel seat will be good, it is a Fuji DPS 24 and you can always us the rod clamp assembly to insure a solid fit. What size Senator do you have?

I have a 4/0. It’s spooled with 300yards of 25lb. mono and the rest 65lb. braid. If a reel seat does happen to crack( I have had it happen before not on the senator, on a spinning combo) is there a way to fix it? I would rather pay $60 In the end instead of buying a whole new rod.

There is usually no way to fix a cracked reel seat but you should not have any issues with the Fuji DPS 24 an 22 that is on the Torque surf rods. Fuji makes a great reel seat and people have been using Senators in these reel seats for years. We use the same reel seat on some boat rods as well.
