Every time that I go to Hilton Head to fish with Courtland, it is an adventure! This trip was to be another, and takes the cake on weird $^&*! I was headed to HH around 3:00, and as I came into Walterboro, I hear this tremendous crash, and a flopping sound in the bed of my truck. My first thought was that I hit a person, but soon saw that a deer had chosen to end it all, and was lying dead in the bed after running into the side of the truck and flipping into the bed!

After a hearty laugh at the marina, we headed out onto a sloppy ocean in search of big game. We didn’t see any bait or birds on the first stop, so continued on in a sloppy seat hat was due to lay down. A few miles from spot #2, we came on one of the strongest rips I have ever seen. Dark blue on one side, green and turbulent on the other.

Bait, weed and Manta rays were all over it. We set out a couple of high speed plugs and tried for a Hoo. After a few minutes, the port rig starts screaming, I grab the fifty, and the fight is on…arms wore out, tough fight, only to see a couple hundred pound manta foul hooked. So now I am 2 for 2 with deer and Manta.
We run to somewhere else, and trolled and jigged and put a bunch of these in the boat…they sure bleed a lot!

We ran back into some kind of birds nest? or whatever Courtland called it and I got to watch Reggie take the first COBIA!!! of the season!!! Courtland then had a second spit the hook at the bote within gaff range!

That has to be a first, didn’t even have to load the deer up, self loading deer!!! added bonus for the freezer!

And for the record please define “a bunch of these”. This is a site based on valid reports and truths, as you know Cortland has been on probation since his first trip with EF and the catch numbers that were posted. I do hope he continues to refine his cat food skills as I will be calling him out this spring.
From the pics it looks like you are just offshore of the grillage. I have those numbers in my handheld.

Great day guys! Many of us wish we could just catch 1/2 the species you guys did in 1 day much less all of them! I really like that rod in the picture above sells spinning rod. What kind is it? Also sells loves those spinning combos…seems to always catch BIG ASS fish!!!

The only other rod in that picture(white one?) is a 4’8" Jigging Master 250G. It is my little workhorse.
