Fished the Mount Pleasant Pier on 9-18-16. Pretty slow day overall, as we fished dead low until about 2 hours into the incoming. Ended up with about 4 toadfish… a small red, and then a Gag Grouper. I have never caught a grouper before and didn’t think they were common this far inshore. Even though it was tiny, it was cool to see.
That’s a nice looking small gag. During my employment at the Aquarium we would put out traps to catch any specie of fish that we could and I remember catching a grouper in that trap. Nice catch

Saw a guy get in trouble for keeping one at the pier a few years ago. I believe it was around this time of year also.
