Suzuki DF 140s

Looking at a boat with twin Suzuki DF 140s. I have always had Yamaha so was wondering if anybody had any experience or advice. I have always heard everything but Yamaha you are going to have more problems. Thanks in advance.

what year are they? Early 2000 motors have been know to have corrosion issues. That being said I have 2500 hours on mine. Only problem I have had was a stuck IAC valve. In my mind they are solid motors, like anything you have to take care of them. Changing the internal zincs is very important to reduce internal corrosion.

Thanks for the experience. They are 2007s.

Same thing as the johnson 140’s. Change the zincs inside and swap the steel plug for an aluminum plug in the engine holder if it even has one on a 2007. Other than the steel plug causing corrosion they have a good rep.

I have a DF140 (2001) on my 19’ Twin Vee. It has been the best mechanical device I have ever owned. Do NOT overfill it with oil… keep that line in the middle of the stick. If I could buy a set on a big cat, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I’ve never had one minute of trouble out of mine. Owned it since 2010 and ran the hell out of it. Just make sure about the steel plug, I had to change mine out, but just to be on the safe side, had no issues with it.
