suzuki df140 wiring fun-

Hi-

I have a suzy 140 four stroke that is giving me fits.

I had intermittent loss to ignition switch and console t/t, so I traced the infamous “white wire” and it has continuity from battery terminal to under the cowling, and the bullet connector there is good.

Also have continuity on gray, white/hashed, green, brown, etc on the wiring harness from engine to console.

There are a couple of “idiot proof” plugs that match up (ignition -> engine harness) that looked crunchy, so I took them apart and cleaned, and now I get COMPLETE loss to ignition and t/t @ console.

So, the way these plugs are it is really hard to “jump” them - is there anything wrong with cutting the plug out and just butt splicing the wires from ignition switch to engine harness?

Or should I cut upstream from the plug towards the ignition switch and test for continuity there? Where would you go next?

About to send you a PM

nothing bad will happen if you cut out the plug and hardwire it
