Suzuki Fuel System

Just picked up a 1999 Suzuki 140DT. It is a 2 stroke with fuel injection. I got a great deal on it so I took a chance with it to get it to run. Compression was good, and was able to get it to fire with starter fluid so I decided it was worth putting some time into it.

I am very good with cleaning carbs on 2 stroke but have no experience with fuel injection. I was able to pull the injectors out, and open up the float bowl and they were filled with tarnished gas. How do I go about cleaning the fuel system out and where are the filters located?

I will flush the fuel pump, drain and clean the float bowl, purge the lines, and change the main filter before the fuel pump. Does this motor have a high pressure pump that needs to be cleaned? What about the injectors. Can I clean them myself with carb cleaner? Its all covered in bad gas. Here are the pictures:

What is this canister under the throttle?

What do I do to clean out fuel that feeds the injectors (Top hose on head)?

What is the white piece?

I have the same motor on my Pontoon. My high pressure fuel pump went out and a replacement was around 500.00 bucks. Hooked up with a guy in Cali and found the same one for a motorcycle/car that was around 80.00. Identical and all numbers matched. I keep Sea foam in my tank and crank it once a month and never have had any problems. Good luck

Do you have the information on the part in case I have to replace it?

the canister looks like the low pressure lift pump
the white thing looks like part of the oil injection system.
we don’t work on many of those motors. there aren’t very many left, salt water was pretty harsh to them.
replace fuel line where you can
flush other items with carbon free aka marine motor de-carb
