Probably a gaff hole, I wouldn’t trust that big girl in my normal inshore net! That is one hell of a big flounder. I been rounding them up with my daddy and gigs and rods and spears for 55 years, never seen one that large, gig, hook and line or spear gun.
Did y’all have it weighed? Had to be close to a state record.

Weight?
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
That grin is bigger than the fish! Nice

Holy cow unless that boy is 2 foot tall that is a sea monster he is holding. Hats off to you. Would love to hear that fishes story.
Big bulge in fish’s stomach, and it looks like it was well settled in to mud bottom.
Now that’s a flounder. Like others have said “I HOPE YOU WEIGHED THAT HALIBUT”. Nice!!!

Woof for sure-Biggest Flounder I’ve ever seen! Congrats!!
Estimated weight? If the first knuckle of his index finger is one inch,
this fish would appear to be close to 32 inches long and 40 inches in girth,
the “Salt Water Fish Weight Calculator” says would weigh 13-14 pounds.
I believe state record is 17-6.
