swim baits for stripers

anyone ever troll any swim baits like money minnows or shadilicious for stripers? i never pulled much other than plugs or bucktails, but gonna start off the season trying something new and give them a try Wed evening

will post how we do…in fact, I will just post the results now since I may be tired when i get home

I have pulled a big 8" trout swimbait a few times, but really not enough to rule it out. When I had it out nothing hit my stretch or U-rig either. I don’t see why they would not work, I have caught one on a U-rig with swimbaits. I am 99% bait user by the way, so i am far from a trolling expert.

heck forget the swim baits and just go get the herring richard has for two bucks a pop…lol…those things are like 15"+ and weight at least a pound or more… says he got them for someone to use at “the hill” in a tourney. never seen a herring so big.

wow…i have seen gizzard shad that big, but not herring…i’m gonna stop by richards and see these things on my way to work…the few stripers i got last evening weren’t much bigger than that

wound up pulling bucktails…couldn’t get the swim baits to work just right at trolling speed…seems like you have to have that weighted hook centered just perfect

I pulled two of those monster baits yesterday. Had a few fish blow up on them but could not get hooked up should have put stinger hooks on em.
