headed out sat afternoon on nice seas, stopped on some live bottom for bait but the 3/4lb bsb and vermillion would not let up. 100’ temp 72.4. hit the ledge and trolled for a few hrs with only one slinger to show for it. bait was plentyfull and the temp creeped up as we went deeper.74.4 at the 226. picked up around 8 and headed out to 1600’ to start our drifts. only had one hit about 9:30 and that one headed for the bottom then pulled the hook. not another bite all night and the ocean was dead! water temp was 80deg. never saw any bait around our underwater lights. after a 24m drift we picked up and started trolling at the GThole at 5:50am. very slow and didn’t have our frist bite till 7:30. picked at them and ended up with 4 phins and 4 fat bfts. pulled the hook on 4 more which were prob. nice bfts. most fish were caught on cedar plugs. the way back cedar daisy chain took the most fish, they didn’t seem interested in skirts and hoos this morning.picked up at 10:30 after a long night and rolled in on nice water at 45mph, awesome! we were one fish away from being heros, no guts no glory. had a great time aboard the Mara Lynn with eric, james, john and pepe. Can’t wait till next weekend the gold rush should be in full swing. Grouper opens sun!
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
