Swordfish Trip 06/03

Left Toler’s at 2:30 pm Tuesday headed for an area offshore and south of the 226 hole.
Flat calm all the way out. Stopped in an area around 700’ at 4:30 after talking with a few friends to troll on out.
Nice weed line, plenty of skippies and peanuts but no bites. Tried to jig a couple of skippies for live bait but the hook would not stick.
Trolled on out towards our destination and managed to hook a fiesty 150 lb. blue at 7:30 on 30 lb. gear. Released at 8:30.
Started sword drift a little after 9:00. Perfect drift right up the line. Couple of longliners within shouting distance. 3 hour set and no strikes.
Pushed in closer to the 226 and set a drift that would take us over the hole. Managed to hook one on top of the hole at 3:30 but broke him off after 15 minutes.
Trolling at daylight with little action. Back at the dock at 11:30 Weds morning.
Fished from the high 4’s up to the low 3’s most of the evening.

What size swordfish are we talking about here in your guestamation?

No clue.

Been at it long enough to know a sword bite when I see one. Just trying to post a legit report.

Not bustin your balls just interested in swordfishing

Does it just take the bait slow or does is nail it and run hard?

BW,

No worries.

Just like any other pelagic out there, no bite is the same.

Some crash…some just play with the bait.

If you detect the slightest bump on the rod, assume the fish is there.

Good luck to you.
