Thinking of switching to T Mobile. Anyone have any trouble getting service on Lake Murray?
One of my friends that fishes with me has a t mobile smart phone and doesn’t get good service at all even in places around town and his internet is horrible.
I know verizon is expensive but i honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t have service. sometimes out in the sticks I don’t have internet that good

Do some searching and you can find other companies that use Verizon and other towers to provide there service for cheaper, like Page Plus. The Wally world services is just a hair better than t-mobile which both where sub-par for me, I am currently think of going to Page Plus myself because of people I know will have service when I don’t and we’re sitting write next to each other and they have good prices.

My Verizon work all over Clark Hill but my buddys ATT wont pick up any thing above 378 bridge!
For what it’s worth its not that great in the Charleston area, my wife has it with hit and miss service.

I’m confused about the way this all works with buying a phone from someone other than the provider, but yet sticking with my current contract…in my case Verizon.
I am ready to upgrade at the end of next month and the phone I have now has a usable, but messed up display, so I want to get something else ASAP. The phone I am looking at is much cheaper with another 2 yr contract if I get my phone through Amazon once my eligibilty date is here.
So, if I buy my phone through Amazon I will still be renewing my contract with Verizon, but I can not necessarily expect the same coverage I have been getting going directly through Verizon?

Tim - if you have Verizon it does not matter where you get your phone so long as the phone is compatible with the Verizon network … You can get phones off of Ebay and activate them under an existing plan with no contract …
We always get our phones through Best Buy - while their insurance is $1 more per month than Verizon’s in house (assurion) there is no deductible for replacements and no questions asked if the phone is broken … i.e. water damaged or root (hacked) damage …
If you get your new phone through Amazon, or Best Buy and you get the reduced price then you will simply be extending your existing contract for that phone number for another two years … You will still get the same coverage and service and … the same expensive bill …

It has got to be better than sprint. Sprint sucks. I can only get signal on Lake Murray. Lake Wateree and Clarks Hill no signal.
Thanks for all the info… Looks like I better stay with Verizon. I was just trying to save some money since T Mobile has much better prices.
Coverage isn’t the issue with Verizon … but you pay a premium for it … My problem is with the new pricing plans … It’s ridiculous … A dumb phone now costs $20 more per month … a smart phone now costs $10 more per month … AND you have to but DATA on TOP of that …
I currently pay $189 ($240 total after misc. fees and taxes) for 700min/Unlimited Texts/Unlimited DATA with 2 smart phones and 3 dumb phones …
If I want to upgrade one of my phones for the reduced price then I LOSE my current (old) plan … this will result in an increase from $189 per month to $240 per month … I mean, seriously??? and that’s only with 4GB of DATA to SHARE … I keep waiting for Verizon to be reasonable, but I think we have a better chance of World Peace …

Well … that sucks!!! Verizon charges $100 for smart phones and $50 for dumb phones … guess the lesson is - Don’t break your phone
