With the heat of the summer coming and days of 90 plus degrees with little to no air movement, anyone ever mount a small fan on thier T-Top or keep on in the boat?
I have a 10" O2Cool fan that runs on D-Cell batteries. Was wondering if anyone does this or is it just my cold breeded yankee ass waiting for a breeze?
Just looking for something to move the air when nature doesn’t.
I did it myself. my boat did not have a fresh water tank. So I put one in. I cant remember where I got the tubing (mister) from. but I shopped around and used the cheapest i could find with brass sprayers. Hooked it to the freshwater piping. Only issue I have is I need to put a valve in so if I want just the freshwater on I can do that. right now I turn the pump on and the mister starts.
I can’t help on the fan, but I found the blue fabric on my top was the hottest part of the boat, and the heat was radiating onto everything and me underneath. So, I went to Goodwill and found a light color kingsize sheet ($4). I securely clothespin the sheet to the top of the bimini. The extra layer and the lighter color make it much more comfortable. With the sheet, I could experiment being a blow-boat in a MacGyver moment.
I’ve seen people hook up the low pressure rainbird yard misters to the fresh water tank and in the tubing around the t-top frame. You can buy everything you need at lowes
Where do you fish that has little or no wind movement? I need to go there! This year’s beenjust wind wind and more wind.
But seriously that fan idea would be sweet in the springtime to drive off the gnats
I’m usually in the rivers. Somedays the spot you want is protected and while this year is not so bad, last year was 95+ with no air movement. I hit one day this year that I was just standing there sweating in the shade (T-top) because there was no breeze.
My T-top fabric is Black, so the white sheet thing may be a good idea. I know the horse flies love that black t-top.
I dont have a fresh water wash down, so I would have to put a fresh water tank in. I looked at a few websites, $300-$400 for the entire system is definately outside my price range.
Maybe a nice outdoor ceiling fan would work. lol.
Instead of putting in a freshwater tank maybe you can make an adapter to fit the drain plug of your cooler. As long as you don’t put trash, empty cans or fish in that particular cooler i would think the ice melt would be plenty of water for a couple misting sessions per trip. And talk about cooling off!!

I remember my grandparents telling me that.
I’m pretty old school. Might even know your grandparents. I’d hate to think what my Daddy would have thought about a fresh water cockpit mister [:0] Boy, stick sum ice in yer hat and keep headin dem skrimps

Ha! I knew there was some southern trick to handle the heat. Here I thought you guys were just that tough. Now I know your all walking around with ice on your head.
Wish I would have thought of that earlier.
