I got a couple of the Taco Grand Slam Outriggers and need to get them installed on my Grady 258 hardtop, from my brief research I found that most recommended having a bracket welded on the hard top frame. Anybody recommend a shop for welding on the hard top?
You’re going to have to strip that frame, but I would give mark googer a call at Carolina custom rigging. He does good work for a very fair price.

What do you mean strip the frame? Do I have to remove the hard top from the boat? I am new to Welding and fabricating metal, I am good with composites but metal is a whole different ball game for me.
Aluminum wicks away heat fast. If you have any composite material anywhere near the weld it will burn it up fast.
If you want to save some money and labor cost, you’re going to want to get everything far away from where the weld will be. The person doing the work will probably want the hard top almost removed, with just a few fasteners in it so the can size up plates.
Talk to Mark. Send him pictures. He’s the expert. I’m an descent welder and I own a descent machine, but I got Mark to do mine. Worth the money.
Thanks guys, I will look him up, I am going tomorrow to pick up my new Trailer so once I get the boat swapped on the new trailer my next project is to get the outriggers installed.
