Tag a long in the deep- swordfish

Left Chas around 5 yesterday headed for the wild blue yonder. Couldn’t find anyone to accompany us so we went it alone. Beautiful night, however upwellings can be interesting in a small boat. 2/5 on the swordfish. Both just over 47" so that means in the box you go…
Ran home about 6 am in some sloppy, uncomfortable stuff. Really sore and tired and ready to do it again. Go Cocks.

Congrats.

Nice anklet. Good idea taking “one of those guys” out on a long trip in the ocean at night with no women within 70 miles.

150-300’. Didn’t have any strikes on the surface baits.

MM

Nice job on the swordies. Did you bottom fish at all?

Fish-n-Kid

I fish alot more than you.

Freshwater is for drinking.

Nice job!

we marked some killer looking bottom in 1300-1600’, brought the new tanacom bulls and i’m kicking myself still because we never tried it. We were drifting too quickly to drop. drifting beam-to almost 4 kts in the stream. The target was swords, and we didn’t have a fish in the boat until 4:30 so I was more intent on getting one in the boat first before we tried bottom fishing. Boated the second fish just before six, and by that point were were tired and it was getting rough.

On the outskirts of a storm about 4:00, we heard a buzzing and looked up. The tips of the antennas had about 2 inches of blue flame shooting out of the top of them, as did the outriggers. I put my shoes on after that.

MM

Congrats Matt. Thats awesome. One pretty fish. I was kicking myself for not going with you. Glad ya’ll got on them.

Congrats. We tried on the last full moon without any knockdowns. But our plans are to try again on the 15th and 16th of this month. Let me know if you are interested on us tagging along. Tight lines to ya. Mahalo-Kai

2" of blue flame comming from the antennas & riggers? some sort of lightening field? i’m confused. sounds kinda freaky.

The older I get, the better I was.

St. Elmo’s Fire. I’ve never seen it before, only heard it. It was rather disturbing.

MM

While i have never seen it on the water I have seen it many times on electrical equipment. Mast, high line poles, anntena arrays and such. It will make you question yourself and the safety of your ___!

Wind from the West, fish bite the best.
Wind from the South blows bait in their mouth.
North or East, take extra beer.</font id=“size1”>

static charge build up! Thats the same color you would see at a science fair when they make your hair stand straight up. I did some research on this when it happened to me out boating a few years back. Very lucky he didn’t get struck!

I’ve been told of the buzzing, but the blue flames would
prompt me to relocate.

As for the upwellings…they can be interesting in a 31’
boat.

Going back to the hump in Oct.
