I tagged this fish 7-4-18 he was 10 3/4".
He was caught again 4-16-19 he is now 19".286 days. He was released. From the destruction of the location he was caught in the same area where I caught him. Oh yeah it was a redfish.

I am fragile.
Not like a flower.
But like a bomb.
Over 10” a year. Looks like there’s plenty to eat.

Tagging data like yours are an important component of life history research! See figures on pages 5 and 10, fastest growth (by length) occurs from 6-15 months, which is now through late fall for last year’s crop.
Based on S.C. age at length, your fish should be out of the slot a little after it turns 2 and well before the first members of its cohort have the possibility of maturing the next summer. At/after age 3, it becomes much harder to accurately assign fish to age classes based on length.
Good light reading barbawang
Figure 3. Chart is all kinds of messed up. Jan is month 6??? Then month 13 is zero???
I guess you can assume lots of fish in the fall, very few fish in the winter, ok fish in the spring, little better in the summer???
Sept - Jan is the best
Generally speaking Fall is the best for redfish but Winter can be equally great. This year it seemed they hung around longer and were present into the beginning of April while for me early March is usually the drop off.
Now I’m in the spring doldrums. Find a few here and there but last years hatch is not big enough to start biting so your just picking over whats left of the 2 year olds. They are also moving around establishing the summer pattern.
Hoping the numbers caught will jump in June.
Caught a tagged red drum a week ago. 29 inches. DNR report came back saying it was first tagged 135 days prior and 29 inches. Colder weather/slower metabolism along with the slower growth in length when that big I suppose…
goldfish, a lot of times the taggers will pinch the tails and get a very accurate measurement, and recapture anglers just put it on the ruler relaxed without pinched tail. That can and often does make the difference. I’ve had fish “shrink” for that reason

Here’s 642 days of growth rate for you. Fairly consistent with the data available.
